Make It Count

When I was younger, I was amongst those selected to lead my primary school in reciting the Singapore pledge in the mornings:

"We, the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion, to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality, so as to achieve happiness, prosperity, and progress for our nation."

Now, more than ever, the true meaning and intent of the pledge of allegiance remind me to be a true blue Singaporean for the greater good.

The advice of my teachers keep echoing in my head as I reflect on the current local phenomena - that above all things, we must uphold justice.
